34 Puñaladas
34 Puñaladas comprises of the gifted vocalist Alejandro Guyot and guitarists Augusto Macri, Edgardo Gonzalez, Juan Lorenzo and Hernan Reinaudo. The quintet goes under the quixotic name roughly translating as « 34 knife stabs ». These thoughtful Argentinians are all aged between 29 and 32 years old and represent the new generation of musicians from the spiritual capital of tango, Buenos Aires. |

Les Suds à Arles 2004
play
The Argentinian quintet focuses on evocative stories of criminals, prison, drugs, loose women, and thefts that were concocted in the Spanish slang of the 20s and 30s. Yet, the songs are delivered with the smooth self-assurance that crooner Carlos Gardel would be proud of. Guyot’s delivery is truly breathtaking, belying his youth with a maturity that seems to come from another age. 34 Puñalados was one of the highlights of the 2004 edition of Festival Les Suds à Arles in southern France. They return to Europe in September for a one-month tour of Spain, Germany and Italy. This coincides with the group’s first album « Tangos Carcelarios », two years after its successful release in Argentina. In 2005 they released a haunting and powerful follow-up, aptly called « Slang ». Daniel Brown February 2006
